As the nation prepares to commemorate America’s 250th anniversary, the Anacostia BID is calling on local businesses, artists, organizations, and community leaders to help showcase the creativity, culture, and legacy of Southeast Washington, DC.

Through the “An Anacostia Experience” initiative, the Anacostia BID is inviting the community to submit events, activations, performances, exhibitions, specials, and other programming that celebrate America’s 250th and the unique cultural identity of Historic Anacostia.

The initiative aims to highlight the neighborhood’s vibrant history while creating opportunities for residents and visitors alike to experience the energy, artistry, and community spirit that make Anacostia one of Washington, DC’s most important cultural corridors.

“We want Historic Anacostia to be fully represented in the DC250 celebration,” the Anacostia BID shared. “This is an opportunity for local businesses, creatives, and organizations to be part of a historic national milestone while uplifting the stories and culture of our community.”

The Anacostia BID is encouraging submissions from:

  • Small businesses
  • Restaurants and food vendors
  • Artists and creatives
  • Community organizations
  • Musicians and performers
  • Event producers
  • Educational and cultural institutions
