After a successful inaugural season, Jazzy Sundays in Anacostia is set to return this summer, bringing live music, local food, and community gathering back to the heart of Historic Anacostia.
Presented by the Anacostia Business Improvement District and DCity Smokehouse, the free outdoor concert series will run from July 12 through August 30, 2026, offering residents and visitors an opportunity to enjoy live performances in a relaxed neighborhood setting.
The series debuted in 2025 and quickly became a popular summer destination, attracting audiences looking to unwind with family and friends while enjoying jazz and contemporary sounds from local and regional musicians. Organizers say the strong response from the community helped pave the way for a second season featuring both returning favorites and new performers.
More than just a concert series, Jazzy Sundays aims to create a welcoming space where music, culture, and community come together. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets, settle in for an afternoon of live entertainment, and enjoy the atmosphere that has become a hallmark of the event.
Adding to the experience, DCity Smokehouse will once again serve food throughout the series, offering barbecue favorites and other menu items from its food truck. Bar service will also be available, creating a laid-back environment where attendees can enjoy great music alongside local food and drinks.
This year’s season will culminate on August 30 with the return of the Jazz Hop Sound Sessions, an annual initiative of the Anacostia BID that expands the music beyond a single venue and throughout the Anacostia Arts & Culture District. The neighborhood-wide celebration will feature live performances, cultural experiences, local businesses, and community gathering spaces, transforming Anacostia into a destination for music lovers from across the region.
As Washington’s summer arts calendar continues to grow, Jazzy Sundays stands out as a community-centered event that highlights local talent while fostering connections among residents, businesses, and visitors.
